Hessing 的作品像一本日记。他是自己人生的见证者。无论是在屋顶、桥上写生，还是深入中国云南、大峡谷的野外之旅，都让他的"户外写生"成为一场冒险。广泛的展览之旅为他笔下的风景、室内景、城市景观与日常物件提供了异域的题材。
1980 年，Karolyi 伯爵夫人邀请他前往位于旺斯（Vence）的艺术家与作家基金会，进行为期三个月的驻留创作。他在那里找到了适合工作的居所与滋养心灵的文化环境。十余年前，他搬到了尼港口（Nice）附近一间更大的画室。
如今他于波士顿与上海拥有长期代理画廊，并在世界各地展出作品。
